ScaleFibre Australia Pty Ltd
Imagine logging into your laptop a few mornings each week, brewing a coffee, and spending a calm, focused few hours getting someone’s books perfectly in order. No commute, no office noise, just you, Odoo, and a clear set of numbers that need to make sense across three different countries. For many experienced bookkeepers, that kind of quiet, high-impact work – especially when it’s remote and flexible – feels like the sweet spot between independence and real responsibility.
ScaleFibre Australia Pty Ltd is building a new kind of future in optical fibre cable and connectivity. They supply high-performance solutions to hyperscale data centres, AI workloads, and next-generation networks – which means they need someone who can keep the financial side clean and accurate while the company grows fast internationally. Right now, they are looking for a Casual Bookkeeper based in Brisbane (or anywhere in Australia with reliable internet) to work approximately three hours per week. The position is covered by the Clerks – Private Sector Award and pays $38.99 per hour plus superannuation. There isa genuine opportunity to increase hours as the business scales. If you already live and breathe Odoo, have handled multi-currency books before, and enjoy being the person who makes sure every dollar is correctly categorised, this remote Casual Bookkeeper role could be the low-stress, high-trust addition your week has been missing.
REQUIREMENTS
ScaleFibre is very clear about the non-negotiables – they need someone who can hit the ground running in Odoo without hand-holding.
You must have:
- Hands-on, recent experience using Odoo for full-cycle bookkeeping (this is mandatory)
- Proven bookkeeping experience for companies in at least one of Australia, the United Kingdom, or the United States
- Strong understanding of multi-currency transactions, foreign exchange gains/losses, and intercompany reconciliations
- The ability to communicate financial discrepancies clearly and professionally (written and verbal)
- Self-discipline and comfort working remotely with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail – accuracy is everything when you are the last line of defence on the numbers
Highly regarded (but not mandatory):
- Knowledge of BAS in Australia, VAT returns in the UK, or Sales Tax in the US
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or professional certification (CPA, CAT, etc.)
- Experience in an early-stage or fast-growing company
They are open to candidates with deep expertise in one jurisdiction, as long as they understand international accounting standards and can quickly pick up the others.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your weekly three hours (with room to grow) focus on keeping the financial backbone strong and accurate.
You will handle:
- All daily bookkeeping entries, journal entries, and bank reconciliations inside Odoo
- Managing multi-currency transactions and intercompany reconciliations across Australia, the UK, and the US entities
- Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable – professional communication with global vendors and clients
- Supporting month-end closing processes so the general ledger is always trial-balance ready
- Ensuring regional tax compliance (GST, VAT, Sales Tax) through accurate data entry and correct categorisation
- Maintaining financial integrity across the board – every transaction needs to be right the first time
The environment is early-stage and international, so resourcefulness and clear communication are just as important as technical accuracy.
Benefits
Even at three hours per week, this casual role comes with several meaningful advantages.
You receive:
- Award rate of $38.99 per hour plus superannuation
- Genuine flexibility – work remotely at times that suit you
- Opportunity to increase hours organically as ScaleFibre grows
- Exposure to a high-tech, fast-moving company at the cutting edge of fibre-optic connectivity
- The quiet satisfaction of being the trusted person who keeps the numbers clean while the business scales globally
- A role that values precision, independence, and clear thinking
Many bookkeepers in similar casual positions enjoy the balance – meaningful work without a full-time commitment, plus the chance to step up when the company (and the hours) expand.
