As a Child Care Worker in Wagga Wagga, you will plan and deliver intentional play-based programs, build secure attachments, guide routines with warmth, and partner with families to give every child the strongest possible start.
Requirements
Gurwood wants qualified, experienced nurturers.
You are perfect with:
- Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care (or ACECQA-assessed equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years paid experience in long day care (room leader experience is a bonus).
- Current Working with Children Check (NSW).
- Current First Aid, Asthma, Anaphylaxis & CPR (or willing to obtain).
- Passion for play-based learning & the EYLF.
- Warm, patient, creative—children light up when you walk in.
- Strong English communication for family partnerships.
- Full Australian work rights—no sponsorship available.
Regional living lovers preferred—Wagga is affordable, friendly, and 4.5 hrs from Sydney/Melbourne.
Responsibilities
Your day is pure childhood magic.
Full-time roster (usually 38 hrs, 4–5 days):
- Plan & implement engaging daily programs—art, music, outdoor adventures, STEM.
- Supervise & scaffold play in 0–2, 2–3, or 3–5 rooms (they match your strengths).
- Nappy changes, toileting, meals, rest time with kindness & respect.
- Document learning stories, observations, and family updates (Storypark or similar).
- Set up inviting indoor/outdoor environments.
- Guide positive behaviour with empathy & clear boundaries.
- Build genuine connections with children & families.
- Contribute to centre quality improvement & NQS excellence.
No split shifts—finish by 6 pm latest.
