This iconic on-mountain lodge is hiring one experienced leader on a permanent full-time basis at $45 hourly for 30–40 hours per week. Black Diamond is Big White’s social heartbeat—après-ski central with live music, huge patios, and a menu of elevated pub classics that keeps locals and tourists coming back. As Restaurant Manager on the mountain, you will run the entire show: staff of 15–25 in peak season, daily revenue targets, liquor costing, scheduling around powder days, and keeping the energy high from first chair to last call.
Requirements
Black Diamond wants a proven mountain or high-volume operator.
You are the perfect fit with:
- College or CEGEP diploma (hospitality/tourism/business preferred).
- 3–5 years restaurant management experience—ideally 200+ seats or resort environment.
- Full understanding of labour costing, inventory, and POS systems.
- Experience hiring, training, and scheduling large seasonal teams.
- Strong food & beverage costing—food 28–32 %, liquor 18–22 %.
- Valid Serving It Right (or willing to get it immediately).
- Comfortable living or commuting to Big White (staff accommodation may be available).
- Canadian citizen, PR, or valid work permit.
Previous ski resort experience is a massive advantage.
Responsibilities
Your season is non-stop action.
30–40 hrs/week (more in peak Dec–Mar):
- Open & close the restaurant—daily operations from 8 am brunch to 11 pm last call.
- Build schedules around snowfall and events.
- Recruit, train, and motivate front & back-of-house team.
- Control costs—food, liquor, labour, wastage.
- Negotiate with suppliers & book catering/private events.
- Run nightly revenue reports and weekly P&L reviews.
- Keep health & safety, WorkSafe, and liquor compliance perfect.
- Be the face of the venue—handle VIPs, complaints, and compliments.
Peak season = long days, big bonuses, epic skiing on days off.
