Nagasaki is Japan’s historic shipbuilding capital—home to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and countless repair docks where supertankers, cruise ships, and naval vessels are born and reborn. As a Welder in Nagasaki-shi, Japan, you will work on new builds and repairs: cutting, fitting, and welding hull plates, bulkheads, and structural steel in dry docks and floating ships under strict Japanese quality standards.
Requirements
YWA seeks proven shipyard welders.
Any gender applicants with:

Minimum 3 years full-time ship welding experience.

Strong skills in SMAW, FCAW, and TIG on steel plates 6–50 mm.

Ability to read basic welding symbols & drawings.

Physically fit for heights, confined spaces, and hot work.

Two clear pathways:
TITP Route (Technical Intern Training Program) – Completed TITP-1 in welding/shipbuilding + certificate, OR – Passed JIS Level 3 or higher welding exam
SSW Route (Specified Skilled Worker) – Passed Prometric Welding (Shipbuilding) exam + JLPT N4 or higher
Age 18+ and Japan deployment-ready.
Responsibilities
Your arc builds the fleet.
Daily shipyard work:
- Weld hull plates, stiffeners, and bulkheads.
- Repair cracked or corroded sections.
- Gouge & re-weld defective seams.
- Fit-up & tack before final welding.
- Inspect own welds & assist NDT technicians.
- Grind, clean & paint welded areas.
- Work safely with scaffolding, harnesses, and ventilation.
- Overtime is common during launch schedules.
6-day week, 8–10 hrs/day.
